Ealing Villagers - Residents Association Constitution

1 Name of Organisation

The name of the Association shall be the Ealing Village People.

2 Aims of the Association

To safeguard and promote the interests of residents and friends of Ealing Village on all matters concerning housing and the environment of the estate and the social and community life. It will promote open and honest communication within Ealing Village, and for residents and friends to have a say in decisions affecting Ealing Village.

3 Membership

Membership shall be open, regardless of nationality, political party, race, sexual orientation, or religious opinions, to all residents and friends of Ealing Village, over the age of 16.

4 General Meetings

(i) A special general meeting open to all residents and friends of the estate will be held if ten or more members submit, a request for such a meeting to other members, who shall arrange for such a meeting to take place within 14 days.

(ii) In all cases at least seven days notice must be given of a meeting.

5 Finance

(i) A record of all financial transactions undertaken by the Association shall be kept in a cashbook.

(ii) The cashbook shall be examined at least once a year by a person who is approved by the Association.

(iii) Membership fees will be charged per flat and set at the first meeting of the calendar year.

6 Changes to Constitution

(i) The Constitution may only be altered at a Special General Meeting.

(ii) All proposed changes to the Constitution must be submitted to members at least 14 days before the general meeting.

(iii) Any changes to the Constitution must be agreed by a majority of two thirds of the members present at the meeting.

7 Dissolution of the Association

(i) The Association may only be dissolved by a Special General Meeting called for that purpose.

(ii) Such a meeting must be advertised at least 14 days before the date of the meeting.

(iii) A proposal to dissolve the Association shall only take effect if agreed by two thirds of the members present at the meeting.

(iv) All funds and documents relating to the Association shall be disposed of in accordance with the wishes of the meeting. Any assets remaining after the satisfaction of any debts and liabilities shall be applied towards charitable purposes for the benefit of the residents of the estate as the Association may decide.
